Earlier this morning, WooCommerce was submitted to Product Hunt, a popular website for showcasing new products. Product Hunt has, since launch, gained traction and become a standard in the tech industry for exposing engaged early adopters to new product and service offerings.
Within minutes, WooCommerce received several upvotes (how Product Hunters show their approval of a product) and several comments. At the time of writing, WooCommerce has had 49 upvotes and is growing steadily.
The Audience
For me, the key takeaway from listing WooCommerce on Product Hunt (thanks Daren!) is the audience. With WooCommerce, our target audiences are agencies offering eCommerce development services and store owners creating their own online stores using WooCommerce. The audience on Product Hunt are makers, creators and early adopters of new products and services.
This pushes WooCommerce to a new audience of engaged individuals who can interact with us and with WooCommerce, helping to grow our product and the ecosystem which has formed around it.
The Takeaway
Much like the process of exploring and validating business and product ideas, it is important to explore avenues less travelled and to branch out into new avenues when growing your product and it’s audience. Product Hunt has done a great job at reaching a new market, and will continue to do so, I am sure.
If you don’t try, you’ll never know. 🙂
