Hi Maritza,
Thanks for your comment.

This sounds, to me, like an opportunity. As many people say, social media isn't just ultimately about interaction online. In addition, users can also discover or be introduced to social media and social media applications by friends in an offline environment.

Over the last few months, I've noticed a steady increase in users who I follow on Twitter adopting Gowalla and/or Foursquare and commenting on their interactions with the applications. The applications themselves have also undergone many user interface and functionality updates, which indicates an increase in their usage and potential requests for specific functionalities.

In other words, get your friends and get them onto Twitter, Gowalla and Foursquare. Share the fun. :)

If 2010 is the year of location-based services like Foursquare, then how come not a single of my friends in Cape Town are using it yet? I've been a heavy internet and social media user for a long time, but I have yet to see this trend really pick up in South Africa.
